What is the “Freedom Drive”?
The Freedom Drive, organized by the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL), has two objectives: First, as a highlight, a march by all participants from Republic Square to the European Parliament. Here, demands such as “Nothing about us without us” and “Homes are not a solution” were chanted. In addition, a dialogue with MEPs on the realities of life for people with disabilities is to be held. The focus is on personal assistance, deinstitutionalization, access to education, employment, and other social institutions and services, as well as freedom of movement within the European Union.
The Freedom Drive is scheduled to take place from October 1 to 3, 2019, in Brussels, Belgium. For more information, please visit the following website: www.enil.eu
The video below was published by ENIL at Freedom Drive 2013 to draw attention to the situation of people with disabilities in Europe. There is still a lot to do before inclusion is achieved everywhere. Everyone can contribute. You too!
